Eternity and Time

Eternity and Time

An honored author says eternity

Would have no meaning if there were no time

In parallel with it.  Supernity

Of always and forever needs no slime

Of molecules and energy.  They, mere,

Subsist.  Eternity was long before.

These details with their large and little sphere

(The logic and the facts of this) trounce more

Than simple proof.  Instead, untouchable,

They shut discussion up.  The Platos, Kants

Et cetera fall back.  Avouchable*

Is not enough. We bow in solemn chants.

The greatest of the honored ones collapse

In time, uncertain as if playing craps.
