The “Chinese in free, hither and thither wandering that nevertheless goes to the goal; Egyptian in resolute march down the path once entered.”
~ Oswald Spengler, “Symbolism and Space,” IV
The Chinese being Oriental flop
About in mists’ philosophy unless
They follow Master Kong. Their total crop
Of other thinkers drowse their ways through mess

Of mysticism, through that ancient land
But yet consider they have found the way.
Their yon and hither, wandering brand
Of notions makes them write their fuzzy say
And makes us feel a funny, fuzzy mood
Inside when reading them. Egyptians, though,
Just hit upon one Monumental, crude
Course forward with a stony, stony flow.
Why stick with thought if what it does is lead
To fog or one long stony, stony creed?
