Art and Music Asleep

He lies stretched out, as stretched as white coast strands
On Caribbean beaches, but though stretched
He lies as calm as palm tree islands’ sands.
His calm is comfort, watercolor sketched
In softness, softer than an etching’s ground.
His stretching set him soft along the sheet
Where he in hairy hairiness is found
In slumber looking softly, softly neat.
At times he lies a curl of softest hair.
It rhymes, that hair, as soft and hard as males
Should be. No hardness here, a lute-like air
He lies and soft as melodies as veils.
He sleeps in bliss since wholly self-assured
As if he never killed and always purred.
