Black and White Uncompromisingly in Every Attitude
For Prospero the world is black and white.
It’s true he’s got green eyes—though, yes, pink nose
And paw pads—and he wears fluorescent bright
Green lights to warn birds that his stalking pose
Looms close to them. But he is white and black
To all intents and purposes. His love
Is eating, eating, eating. There’s no slack
In him on that account. His food’s above
All other matters. Even though he dotes
On hunting, that could be construed to be
About his belly, too. Lamb strikes the notes
He loves, and duck and fish a symphony!
..You put his food favorite down . He’s in bliss—
….But don’t step near him. He will growl and hiss.
