Sinister

Sinister

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

An infestation of a dragon kind

Has surged around the town.  Because their threat

Is scaled, severed, the beasts are in a bind

Behind some metal barriers.  Fangs jet

Out hell-sound, hissing roars.  Electric eyes

Clink on and off.  Reptilian red rage

Rings clear since shoppers are beyond the sighs

Of serpent hearts from eons past.  Their age,

So far away in time, has been attacked

By greed of shopping center bosses who

Believe that kiddies’ brains should be sly jacked

For commerce, voracity through and through.

The scurfiness of avarice is seen

By all who think, cupidity obscene.
