Helpful Hands Instead of Punctured Stigmata Palms

Helpful Hands Instead of Punctured Stigmata Palms

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

If mystical or sentimental, go

Away.  Don’t wallow with those graceful trees,

The weeping willows.  Stop your Eckharts’ show

Of esoteric daydreams you can seize

With foggy heart and hands.  Stop culture’s pop

From kissing Francis of Assisi’s birds

To hymns instead of helping mothers prop

Up food for kids.  Abandon mystic words

That cause a detour from the truth about

Starvation in Sudan.  Support the moms

Afghanistan’s faith crushes.  Learn to shout

Against Amerika’s billionaire bombs.

Go find reality instead of prayers.

    Embrace a practicality that cares.
