Love and Not

But seek ye first the kingdom of love, and its righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

He once again decided not to be

Concerned with most important, heart-health things.

Logistics and a job are all that he

Desires.  When I was his age, angel wings

Of love flew close around my heart and chest.

My ribcage was electrified with love,

With thought and poetry, with all the best

Of living.  Hovering haloes there above

My dreaming gave my life its meanings, high

Like Venus in the twilight heaven with

A crescent moon.  The purpose of my sky

Was made of prayers from every lover’s myth.

The love of Uruk and of Enkidu,

[David and Jonathan, Achilles and Patroclus, Gilgamesh and Enkidu]

And Jonathan and David filled my view.
