Juxtaposition Does Not Guarantee Truth

Juxtaposition Does Not Guarantee Truth

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Though sentimentality is evil,

Is bad enough to ruin lines,

It’s opposite is another weevil

In crops of truth.  Each one of these confines

The larger truth of life.  When they combine,

The writing finds some balance though not quite

Ideal unless the writing draws a line

That shows us what is wrong and what is right.

Is that the truth or is that not quite true?

When Occam’s Razor is applied, the plain

Truth might appear.  A gold white, white, true

Might trounce an alloy leaving not one stain.

Brutality cannot quite save us from

     Our sentimentalities.  Both are scum.
