Shuttered Eyes in Billions

Most people love the fictions from their youth

Much more than factuality.  They love

Those fictions much, much more than manful truth.

They hold divinity, as taught, above

True common sense and truest science.  Faiths

Around the world all disagree about

Both god(s) and truth.  Religions are the wraiths

Left over when strict thinking turns to pout

Since priests are proved both bigoted and wrong.

Still, superstition wins against real thought.

This self-deluded tranche of people, strong

In blindness only, hold to blind men’s snot.

  The hand that they were raised with in their minds

     Has closed clear windows, using blackest blinds.
