No Need for Seeing Eyes
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Bird thou ever wert
You do not need to see the lark when song
Fills air and sky. His voice alone prevents
That need. His strength alone pulls heart along
From loneliness. His voice alone presents
Enough of beauty and of hope. To see
Him, he himself, is not required.
You know this when you hear his jubilee.
You know that life itself has been inspired
By hidden holiness like his in eons past
And will continue with his notes though heard
By others like yourself when you have passed.
This lark is singing like a seer bird.
He saw the past, he sees the present, sees

The future fields where songs will fill the breeze.
