Whimpressionists

Whimpressionists

Impressionists depicted what they saw,

Says one esteemed interpreter, what they

Saw actually.  Well, anyone says, “Nah,”

If s/he has ever looked.  They spew a spray

Of specks and spots across the canvas, more

A pretty mess than what we see.  We just

Make out what they were painting as a roar

Of flecks that used to be a view.  Men bust

Reality and call it art.  It shines

With glistens, pleasing eye with juxtaposed

Élan of blues and yellows.  Eye refines

Them just enough to see a scene transposed.

  The actuality goes prettiness,

    Monet in gleaming chutzpah bittiness.
