Treatment for a Failed Husband

Treatment for a Failed Husband

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

She wishes she could nail another name

Upon her chest and in between her breasts

Since he is forcing her to feel the shame

Of his malfunction.  It alone arrests

Their marriage and her unfulfilled desire.

The marriage bed is blank because of him,

The man who was her groom.  Shaped plastic fire

Would be much better.  Boring manly limb

Inside her in the sheets is like a false,

Failed promise.  Flesh and veins and pulse he gives

But only just.  His little bedroom waltz

Is formal, what’s required.  It barely lives.

She needs a wizard or a holy witch

To hex away and cure her trembling twitch.
