Hypatia and the Horse Guards Man

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

She knows him like a film already seen

Six times.  He knows her like book in code

Encrypted by an algorithm keen

To block him in a keyboard quantum mode.

She knows him like a thoroughbred she trained

Herself.  He knows her as a deaf and blind

Ezekiel might know how bones are strained

Together by a god who cannot bind

A field of bones that lack the joints to fit.

She knows him as an enzyme finds it way

In blood and chemistry.  He can’t outwit

Her, he glued bat wings starving for his prey.

He knows the smell of her.  That’s sadly true,

But how to win he doesn’t have a clue.
