Et Tu, Romantic Love?

Et Tu, Romantic Love?

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

You know caress and cramming force combined.

You know exactly what is meant.  The flight

Arises from caress.  Cramming does the grind

That causes wings of soaring, singing might

Inside.  The colors of the rainbow, though

Intensified and more like screaming blue,

Lift up your heart as if an Aztec blow

To chest with knife has reached the core of you

And lifted up your soul to heartless gods.

You know exactly what is meant.   Your heart

Has flown away.  This inner love defrauds

Your brain.  You knew this dooming from the start.

The empty wind sweeps now, a hurricane

Combined with twisters, making ribs insane.
