A page turned brings not Tuesday but the clash

Of Hastings armies in the book you read.

A flash that blinds from atom bombs, a crash,

Catastrophe opposed to every creed

Was not on Tuesday.  In the lovers’ play

With Romeo and Juliet not one

Important thing occurs upon the day

Called Tuesday.  Holy Week’s without a stun

On Tuesday.  Tuesday’s a non-entity

In every case.  A kitten given plays

With yarn but Tuesday’s a pawn entity

And nothing more except that sheep may graze.

  Shrove Tuesday?  Well you get some eggs and flour,

    Some butter, bubbles, milk—all lacking power.
