  Bittersweet Dreams

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

The people bring their offerings and flowers

And incense bundles.  Buddha lies in sleep.

The people think Lord Buddha has the powers

To help but people do not think like deep

Philosophers (as Buddha did).  These folk

Just feel.  They let their feelings take control

So waste their gifts.  They want to touch the cloak

Of Jesus for their healing of the soul

And eyes, but people do not see that souls

Do not exist and so these will not see

That laziness of gifts has no controls

Of lords.  Lords turn deaf ears to dumbed down plea.

Steep Lords are in a deepest sleep.  The dread,

Though, is that Lords and Gods and Such are dead.
