“see, collected in tranquility” [or something like that] ~ William Wordsworth

For poetry he dives like Baja boys

For pearls but leaps through eyeballs like young Tom

From heights.  He dives through lenses and the noise

Of life and finds our spheres.  He dives in calm

In books and in the poetry of those

Who wrote before him, lunging high above,

And dives deep down where childhood memory glows.

He dives in dreams and daydreams . . . of what love

Presents.  He dives through iris, dives in screens

Of internet discovery.  We dive

Through window glass of ordinary scenes

Outside the books’ room . . . what waits there . . . alive.

A storm arises but we stare through deep

Distress. Life orders that we stand up, steep
