Till Turning, Turning We Come Round Right
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem
Turn mind to friends. Turn mind to daydreams. Turn
Your mind to books and beauties. Turn to true,
Not TikTok vacuums* and turn to burn
Away the vape-ish Instagram. Then strew
Your paths with wide intelligence and walk
With Mind again like human beings used
To do. Turn back to Plato. Turn your talk
From jabbered Rap. Turn silliness suffused
With emptied words to Nietzsche and to Kant,
William Wordsworth by Henry Eldridge
To Einstein and to Wordsworth, and to worth.
Abandon as you turn the shouting rant
Of politicians, hatred giving birth.
Turn back to art that looks like normal art.
Turn back to purer forms of thought and heart.
*The poet pronounces this as a three-syllable word.
