“We see into the life of things” ~ William Wordsworth
The I is interpenetrated with
The I of you and me, the cosmos, whole
Throughout. Religions perpetrate this myth
And it appears again, again. The thought of soul
Crops up in almost every creed, in all
Of them perhaps. Yet always, always still
It fails to overwhelm the I. The small,
That I and you, defies to let it kill
Our essence. We retain the I and you.
The ego when suppressed springs up to fight
Despite the Buddha and the Christ. A view
Denying this is doomed. We clutch our might.
We interpenetrate the universe.
This brings our strength against the gods, their curse.
