Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Seen railroad tracks converge but never meet.

Their logic, unavoidable, still fails.

Philosophers of love leave incomplete

The definition.  Thought goes off the rails

When things replete with contradictions win,

When thinkers find that thought cannot quite do

What feelings mean.  It’s like defining sin

Without the climax of Eve’s fruit in lieu

Of kiss, past tongue and deeply down her throat.

The serpent has a different view of this.

Yes, he, because of shape, ends up with bloat

Of thrill.  For him the bliss is shot through hiss.

The Tree of Good and Evil is obscene

From one position.  Christ looks on the scene.
