Gold, Frankincense and Blur

    Gold, Frankincense and Blur

Ambivalence is what it’s all about.

The certainties that you were taught with kids

Around you in the Sunday School, now shout

As ambiguities., our sleds on skids.

The certainties have turned to shades of gray,

Those things once colorful as Legoland

In DayGlow cubes.  Such cubes can never pray,

Though they are Technicolor.  Now the grand

Truths taught as certainties are lost

In Gordian Knot complications, maze

In maze distorted, modern thinking crossed

With subtleties like tortured black light rays.

We choose to muddle through with common sense

    And logic—jettisoning frankincense.
