A Gilded Mariana Trench Stripped of Water and Even Oxygen

A Gilded Mariana Trench Stripped of Water and Even Oxygen

Too many people choose the meaningless,

A Maserati colored like the blue

Of Adriatic greed, or some success

In some career, a startling whore’s hot screw,

Or many only for a mindless tRUMP.

They do not yearn for meaning, no, not one.

If meaning crammed with meaning gave a thump

To them, they’d think, “I’ll give that thing a shun.”

They move from meaningless in vacant minds

To clueless as a starlet wanting parts

(Well, any part—a walk on part, the rinds

Of bit parts) lacking spiritual hearts.

  A Bollywoodish sequence, dance routine

Is what they live, a meaningless ravine.
