Heating for the Poor Deplorables

Heating for the Poor Deplorables

“The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouses as from rich man’s abode.” ~ Henry David Thoreau, Walden

That university is not a seat

Of learning but a seat of spurning minds.

It spurns the minds of others to defeat

Them.  Really it just slams down all the blinds

That might let in some other truths that pass

Another standard.  Then again perhaps

The light is, too, refracted down the glass

Because it doesn’t follow righteous maps

Approved by dimness.  Still when light breaks through

Again, that light speeds up.  Directions change.

The problem is that one distorted view

Is given credence, turning light beams strange.

Yet also glass absorbs some light and this

Cannot be scrubbed away.  Light leaves hiss.
