Poetry Means Irradiated Mist and Not

Poetry Means Irradiated Mist and Not

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

The point of poetry is mist inside

The mind.  The poetry itself is not

A smog but poetry requires its bride

To wear a veil.  What poetry has brought,

Has always brought, if not to mind, then heart

Is fog that Heathcliffe lives in, moves and lives

In with murk’s Catherine.  There is no chart

To help with gripping poetry.  It gives

Up codes and secrets, not completely, though.

Wide straths of Scotland understand it when

They stream with mist, uncertainty and flow

Away from prose.  True poets use haar’s pen.

Blind Homer sees more deeply in his lines

We turn to poetry because it shines.
