Rabindrinath Lyrics as Litany
Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

Tagore was Poet, first. Then later on
He bowed to writing plays and opera. He
Began a school to raise a newer dawn
For youth because the schools he knew were free
From learning’s passion. Poetry he turned
To since he had to. Politics was forced
Upon him. There his sunshine flared and burned
Again, but through all this his writing coursed
With poetry and poetry—and more
Of poetry. As statesman he strode round
The world, yet deep within him at his core
Rang poetry. It played his sunrise sound.
He lived a poet … died a poet … made
His poetry the way he always prayed.
