Where Rationality Escaped from Irrationality

The Greeks were wiser than that mystic Blake.

They had no truck with his Infinity

Inside a grain of sand.  They need not shake

His nonsense; foolish asininity

Was well beyond their grounded, human earth.

They thought things through and left behind the dirt:

They knew what thinking was the best, what worth

Just chucking out.  A little logic spurt

Could cure them of stupidity, no need

To bow and scrape to mistiness of minds

Around the Ganges.  Ancient Greece’s creed

Was “Know thyself” and shut the Indian blinds.

The Greek religion was a shameful thing

And then they manufactured thinking’s wing.
