Faith in Christmas and Diwali Flopping Around

Faith in Christmas and Diwali Flopping Around

Modern poetry modern verse contemporary poetry contemporary verse modern poem contemporary poem

The Orient is like a bauble tree,

Diwali as the floating little boats

On Ganges’ flow, a Yuletide stream of ghee

In separate Christmas carols from young throats

Of Anglicans on Christmas Eve confused

With Hindu superstition.  In the mix

Of mystic stuff where everything is fused

As one great blur inside a silver pyx

Where Oriental gets together with

The all unthinking of religions slopped

As one, their holinesses, every myth

Sludge up with all of faiths together swapped.

This way of seeing Truth is everywhere

With every messiness in fog aware.
