The Pose of Truth
If you desire some meaning for your life,
Turn back to ancient Athens’ arts.
Don’t seek for meaning in a man or wife.
Don’t search for teachings in your children’s hearts.
Explore through history all you want, and waste
Your years that way, but then come back to art
Of Classic Greece. The rest of tales are paste.
The rest of art is paste. Search through Descartes
And all the rest if you have time to throw
Away, but then return to shoulder, nose,
Those things — and curled marble hair, its glow

Across millennia, that torso’s pose.
The Goddess, Love, the God of lyre and notes

Stand tuned in beauty calling from gods’ throats.
