“Poets are the futuristic astrophysicists of the world [or something like that].”

                                                                      It is a tale

Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury

Signifying nothing. ~ William Shakespeare, Macbeth

A man has let his wife convince him to

Electrifying evil; so, indeed,

As idiot, he tells us something true

He knows beyond his era’s faith and creed . . .

And prophet-like he says the facts that we

Today accept.  The cosmos that we know

Will die in one huge frigid whimper, scree

Of subatomic particles sans glow

Thus leaving only silent frozen hiss,

Nixed sound, so full it fills unending space.

The fury of our lives will come to this

Conclusion, meaningless, a wall-less case.

Before this doom in physics was inferred,

The playwright and assassin both concurred.

~ Phillip Whidden
