Beyond Christian Morals
“We carry within us the wonders we seek without us.” ~ Sir Thomas Browne

Send out your sails from far inside your soul.
Prepare their ships for winds to take you far

Away from moored up human heart, its shoal
Of shallowness, beyond the safest bar

In twilight. If Empyrean your aim,
Launch out your yearning, empty holds, and fill
Their myths with fire and perfect pearls of flame
From distant universes where the spill
Of light unknown is waiting for your search.
Your chest has always wanted wandering stars.
Your ribs have always wanted purple lurch
To something far beyond Christs’ cross, its scars.
The Buddha and Mohammad cannot give˸
Make voyages your mind would love to live.
