It Is as If Giotto Knows the Utter Truth

It Is as If Giotto Knows the Utter Truth

“A man becomes a monk and after several years he gets satori, but what has happened to his common sense?

Without common sense it is impossible to please God.” R. H. Blyth, vol. 5, p. 21

There’s ignorance and then there’s ignorance.

The worst is when a man know so much he . . .

Knows nothing.  This is worse than pignorance

Saint Francis of Assisi as the Prodigal Son

Since he, unlike the sow, can’t really see

The truth.  Saint Francis typified this truth.

He lost all common sense, not just his own.

He heard a holy altarpiece hiss truth,

And, foolish man, he then became a clone

Of Jesus with stigmata on his feet

And hands.  Satori for this silly saint

Changed world and heaven, making both complete,

Enrobing Christ and Francis lacking taint.

When common sense meets strict supernity

     Results at last depict eternity.
